BARRON, JOSHUA

Joshua E. Barron was born July 23,1990 to John and Michele Barron, and graduated from University High School in Spokane Washington in 2009. After graduation he went on to obtain his associates degree from Spokane Community College.  

Joshua touched so many lives and was loved by all. His handsome smile and contagious laugh could easily turn your worst day into your best day. Joshua would always find the positive in any given situation. 

Joshua grew up playing hockey, a passion he shared with his brother Jacob. He also spent many hours fiercely loving and protecting his sister Jessica. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking with his family and friends.  

On May 6, 2011, Josh proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps because he “wanted to do something bigger than himself.” Upon completion of his entry level training, Cpl Barron attended Aviation A & C School in Pensacola, Florida. After completion, he attended the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training where he trained as a 6176, Tiltrotor Crew Chief. He was then assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Training Squadron 204 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. On July 7, 2013, Corporal Barron reported for duty with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 161 (Reinforced) in Miramar, California, where he deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit on May 11, 2015. 

On 17 May, 2015 Josh succumb to his wounds he suffered when his MV-22 Osprey, carrying 21 Marines and a Navy Corpsman made a hard landing and crashed in Hawaii.  

Joshua was promoted to Corporal, Meritorious, Posthumously, on May 20, 2015. 

Cpl Barron’s awards include the National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. 

Joshua was a natural born protector. Above all, he had a deeply profound love for his family and will forever be our hero.
