EMUL, ADAM

Adam Q. Emul was born on March 07, 1987 in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands and moved to Vancouver, Washington. While in High School, Adam enjoyed taking a pottery class. According to his art teacher Susan Cole, "Adam was one of those kids who was always supportive…He was always willing to help others. He was so responsible and so considerate. He's the kind of kid you'd give a job recommendation to in a heartbeat. He was a wonderful person to know." 

Growing up Adam loved playing video games and dreamed of being a soldier. On his Myspace.com page, Adam described himself as a Pacific Islander who loved music by rock groups Guns N' Roses, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Black Sabbath, as well as Bob Marley, Led Zepplin and Green Day.  

After graduating from high school in 2005, LCpl Emul joined the U.S. Marine Corps. After his initial training he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Marine Corps Base Twentynine Palms, Calif. 

LCpl Emul was killed on 29 January 2007, from a roadside bomb while conducting combat operations in Anbar province.  

Adam is survived by four brothers and sisters: Frankie Quitugua; Clarissa Mendiola; Mindy Quitugua; Maryann Mendiola; and Christopher Quitugua. His parents are Angelica Quitugua, and Wayne Emul. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Mendiola. 

According to Gunnery Sergeant Anthony Fatticci “Adam was a member of my platoon. He was a quiet professional, seen not heard, his actions and bravery spoke volumes so he didn't need to.” 

The Washington State Fallen Heroes Project proudly remembers LCpl Adam Emul for his service, sacrifice, and commitment to our nation. Our hope is that his life continues to inspire all who learn his story.
