JOHNS, BEATRICE

Beatrice “Bea” O. Johns was born on August 14, 1989 in Yakama Washington to Anna (Aleck) and Benjamin Johns. She graduated from PACE High School in June 2007, where she was a two-star athlete playing both Basketball and Volleyball. Each year of high school she had the opportunity to go to the Washington State tournament in Tacoma. She also played on three co-ed softball teams, playing in various tournaments.  

Bea was selected as the Outstanding Female Senior at PACE High School and was honored at the Johnson O’Malley Senior banquet. 

PVT Johns joined the Army National Guard after she graduated from high school and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri in 2007. She graduated from AIT on November 9, 2007, as a Chemical Specialist.    

PVT Johns had many accomplishments in her short life. She made friends wherever she went, both around the Yakima Valley and in the Army National Guard. Bea was an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation and a member of the White Swan 1910 Shaker Church.  

PVT Johns was tragically killed in a car accident on December 18, 2007.
