Fallen Story

Erik L. Jorgenson was born on December 12, 1986 in Coeur D’Alene Idaho to Cindy Crow and Brian Jorgenson, and was a brother to his sister Dana. Erik was a 2005 graduate of Half Moon Bay High School, in Half Moon Bay California.

Specialist (SPC) Jorgensen, affectionately known as ‘Jorgi,’ started his United States Army career by attending basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Upon completion of his initial training, he completed the 91B10 Advanced Individual Training course at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland; ultimately, becoming a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic.

SPC Jorgenson was assigned to the 657th Forward Support Company, 17th Fires Brigade, in Ft. Lewis, WA, and served a one-year tour in Afghanistan, conducting roadside, route clearance operations. After the end of his active-duty obligation, SPC Jorgenson joined the Idaho National Guard and was assigned to Company D, 145th Forward Support Company, 145th Brigade Support Battalion, 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team, in Boise, ID. While in Boise, he attended Boise State University, majoring in Construction Management.

Erik's infectious smile and laugh touched many, and his broad shoulders were always there for all in need to lean on. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and mudding with his buddies. He was also an avid reader. He really loved spending time in the great outdoors with family and friends.

His military awards include: Combat Action Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (x2), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Idaho Service Ribbon, and Driver Mechanic Badge. Erik was also a member of the American Legion Post 474, in Half Moon Bay, CA.

Heaven needed another hero and received the finest on 19 July 2013, when Erik passed away in Boise Idaho.

The Washington State Fallen Heroes Project proudly remembers SPC Erik L. Jorgenson for his service, sacrifice, and commitment to our nation. Our hope is that his life continues to inspire all who learn his story.
