LALLIER, JARROD

Jarrod A. Lallier was born July 3, 1991, in Spokane Washington to Kim and Gary Lallier, and was the middle child to sister Jessica and brother Jordan. Jarrod graduated from Mead High School in 2010. 

SPC Lallier joined the United States Army and proudly served with the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. According to Captain Michael Kelvington, commander of the 508th Parachute Regiment, Jarrod “was a quiet professional, never shying away from a challenge. His performance during operations over the past few months in combat has been everything that I could ask from a daring paratrooper…it was a privilege to serve alongside him.”  

Jarrod made friends wherever he went. With a quick wit, and a smile, he could put anyone at ease, and make anybody feel welcome.  

Jarrod lived life fully, never compromising who he was, or his values. He dearly loved his family and friends. Jarrod’s passions were serving Christ, family/friends, the military, soccer, animals, fishing, and camping. Jarrod loved big family events where he could just gather, and celebrate life, whatever that meant at that moment. He had a great sense of humor, and loved to laugh, even if he was laughing at himself.  

SPC Lallier was killed in action on 18 June 2012, in the Zharay District, Kandahar Province Afghanistan, after Afghan national police dressed in uniform commenced a surprise attack of small arms fire and grenades killing two and wounding 8. SPC Lallier awards include the Bronze Star medal, Purple Heart, National Defense Service medal, Afghanistan Campaign medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Parachutist Badge. 

The Washington State Fallen Heroes Project proudly remembers SPC Jarrod A. Lallier for his service, sacrifice, and commitment to our nation. His life continues to inspire all who learn his story.
