PEARSON, MICHAEL

Michael H. Pearson was born on July 1, 1993 in Coeur D’Alene Idaho to Mike and Marian Pearson. At the age of 6, Michael moved to Priest River Idaho where he remained until he graduated High School in 2011. Upon graduation, Michael attended North Idaho College where he received a degree in Diesel Mechanics. One week after graduation from North Idaho College, Michael enlisted in the Idaho National Guard.   

Specialist (SPC) Pearson started his National Guard career in 2014 by attending basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Upon completion of his initial training, in which he turned 21 years old in Boot Camp, he attended his Advanced Individual Training, becoming a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. 

SPC Pearson was assigned to Company B, 145th Brigade Support Battalion of the Idaho National Guard in Boise, ID. SPC Pearson participated in a joint service exercise to Romania where he took apart and put back together many different types of wheeled and tracked vehicles. He loved this deployment as it was very hands on and he was able to interact with a variety of service members, both U.S. and Romanian.  

Michael was a lifelong hunter and lover of the outdoors and family camping trips. Being a hunter, Michael bagged a huge elk at just 12 years old, and his mother joked “where to you go from here after a big elk at 12”. Michael was always looking for a reason to start a paint ball war with longtime friends and family and always asking, “what can I blow up next!” He was very outgoing and friends to all. If he shook your hand, you were his friend for life, always willing to help anyone in need, and happy to ask for help when he got stuck in the mud. 

Michael has left us but will always live on in all of our hearts. Just know while he may no longer be here with us in person, he is still out stalking the wild herds of elk, chasing a herd of bucks, or lying in wait for a trophy Tom. 

The Washington State Fallen Heroes Project proudly remembers SPC Michael H. Pearson for his service, sacrifice, and commitment to our nation. Our hope is that his life continues to inspire all who learn his story.
