Heroes Garden

A place of respite, where food is grown alongside relationship

Nestled between Mirabeau Park and the Spokane River, the Heroes Garden offers whatever it is you need – solitude or companionship, ‘hands in the dirt’ therapy or simply sitting in the midst of something beautiful.

Veterans and surviving families can adopt a garden box, or come and harvest from the community boxes, and everyone is invited to join us for Workday Wednesdays (typically May – October).

Whether you need solitude or companionship, the Heroes Garden offers enough space for both, and we look forward to sharing the fruits of labor made easier (and yummier!) together. You are welcome here!

Adopt a Box!

Garden boxes are 4’x10’ and available to adopt for the season. The Heroes Garden is chemical-free and on a sprinkler system, and gardening tools are available for use.

If you have questions or are interested in adopting a garden bed (available free of charge to veterans and surviving families), please click the button below or reach out to us at HonoringHeroes@wafhp.org

and stay tuned to our Heroes Garden facebook page for 2023’s opening day and upcoming events.

Special thanks to all the volunteers and surviving families who have helped re-energize this space! You’ve poured your hurts and hearts into the soil and let us enjoy the beauty that emerges. Hope to see many more of you at the Heroes Garden soon!
